Masking Technique

Technique Card: Masking / Sponging

This is an embellished single layer card. I used Neenah Solar White Cardstock cut at 8 1/2in. by 5 1/2in. then folded it in half to create a standard A2 card. I used a circle die by Spellbinders to make a mask out of copy paper, I used a Zig 2way glue pen to go around the edge of the circle in the copy paper and let it dry to a tacky edge that I was able to  adhere to the front of the card to insure that my mask stayed in place during the sponging process. For the sponging I used Peacock Feathers, Picked Raspberry and Salty Ocean distress inks by Tim Holtz. After removing the mask I stamped the sentiment from the stamp set "Flowers on my Mind" by Simon Says Stamp. I used the Vivienne Butterfly die from Memory Box cut from black cardstock and used that along with some clear crystal sequins from Pretty Pink Posh to embellish the card. To ground the scene I used a 1/4 in. strip of black paper and adhered it to the bottom of the card.
